Founded in 1981 by William Benton, Benton Real Estate Appraisers has extensive experience with thousands of fee appraisals and assessments. William Benton, a 1978 University of Vermont graduate with a BA in Economics, started the business after becoming the youngest VHFA/VHMGB certified appraiser in Vermont at age 24 in October 1980.
Over the years, we have provided expert witness testimony in various Superior Courts, including Addison, Chittenden, Washington, and Palm Beach County, as well as Federal Bankruptcy Court. In 1986, the firm officially incorporated as W.D. Benton Inc., Appraisers.
In 2020 and 2023, respectively, William's son, Will, and eldest daughter, Eliza, joined the firm as certified residential appraisers. Will, a 2009 graduate of the University of Vermont with a BS in Business Administration, and Eliza, a 2007 graduate of American University with a BA in Communications, contribute to the firm's continued success.

Benton Real Estate Appraisers operates as a family business with certified appraiser William Benton, certified residential appraisers Will Benton and Eliza Benton Huizenga, and staff member Kristin Benton. The trio of Bill, Will, and Eliza handles all aspects of property inspection, data collection, data analysis, and final report preparation. Kristin Benton, Bill’s wife, oversees the financial aspects of the business.
